Charissa

Blush Bride - Charissa

To begin telling you all about Charissa and Benson’s love story… it began with the presentation of an origami rose. As usual, Benson played it off like it was something he did to pass the time but she later discovered he spent over an hour trying to learn how to make one for her. The gestures swept her off her feet which led to her  saying ‘yes’ to their first date!

Charissa and Benson’s wedding ceremony took place at the Holy Rosary Cathedral, one of the most beautiful churches in Vancouver built in the French Gothic style. Perfect, as it reminded them of the cathedrals they had seen in Paris where Benson proposed.

“My favourite part of our wedding day was being able to see each other for the first time at the Cathedral. We couldn’t do our vows in the church, but they were so important for us to express to each other. We decided to do them before the ceremony in the Georgian Room privately with only our photographer, videographer and our planner to capture the moment. In the center of the room was this beautiful white sliding door which we stood behind. We wanted to keep the tradition of not seeing each other before the wedding, so we stood with only our hands touching and read our vows to each other. As soon as he spoke, I could tell he was holding back the tears, and I could feel every emotion in his words. It was such a special moment for us because it was just the two of us sharing in the love and joy of our new beginning.”

The reception took place at the prestigious Vancouver Club. The stunning decor was set for the wedding with a colour palette of blush, white, rose gold/gold, and touch of rich marsala. The original details of the Club such as the historic elegance, wrought crown molded ceilings, large arched windows and oversized dropped chandeliers added the perfect touches to an already teeming array of colours and designs.

Charissa looked unspeakably divine in her ‘Ophelia’ by Vera Wang Luxe wedding gown (part of Vera’s iconic collection). This iconic ball gown is wrapped in delicate overlapping laces, with a multi-layered skirt designed with rose embellishments and draped with Vera Wang French tulle. No one could keep their eyes off her!
